Hello AP Physics students!
There's still a lot of summer left, and there are some things you can do to start getting ready for back-to-school time. A little effort put in now will take a lot of stress off later.
Please check this website every Monday until school starts for further info.
Our textbook:
Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Raymond Serway and Robert Beichner (5th edition)
The ISBN from the publishers website is 003026961X, but the ISBN on the back cover is 0030226546. The publisher is Brooks/Cole now, but originally was Harcourt College. Older copies will show Harcourt on the cover and probably bear the second ISBN and that is why I think there are two ISBN's. Use the first one I have listed.
You can get it at the GBN bookstore when they send you the letter in August that it is available, or you can out-source it like many other students do. You probably know of places like amazon.com, etc. where you can get it.

Assignment: Get the book, read chapter one, work PROBLEMS 3, 17, and 29. Due on August 24 (links provided: this means work it out and hold onto it to look at when we start school). The answers are in the back of the book on page A.41 and I will post full solutions on this website later. (NOTE: "Problems" are different from "Questions".)
NOT REQUIRED - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - will make life a lot easier - Just Do It.
Here is a little gem that you may really want to get before school starts especially if you have not taken calculus yet. You know, AP Physics has calculus in it and this is a do-it-yourself calculus course with a neat twist. It asks you questions and if you know the answer it directs you to skip ahead past the next section. There are two or three sections on each page so you find yourself moving quickly through the book. You will teach yourself enough calculus to take AP Physics, and if you have already taken calculus it will give you confidence that you know the right stuff. I suspect most of you will rip through chapter one in about 90 seconds and settle into chapter two for easy reading. We do problems like p. 67, sect. 124 and beyond.

You can get this book at places like B. Dalton for about $20 but they don't stock it - you have to order it. I got it (used) on amazon.com for $3 + $4 s/h.
Very useful... Here is a link to the publishers website CLICK . Bookmark this page! As you can see it has core concepts, practice problems, and (limited) solutions to homework problems. This link will also appear at the top of this page and this web page will back-fill from the bottom up as I add postings.

That's enough for now... Please check this website every Monday until school starts for further info.
